We have been so excited to take part in the book awards this year and had a record-breaking 24 children across three year groups joining in. Here at Alveston, we always look forward to this wonderful celebration of reading and this year’s shortlisted books certainly did not disappoint.
Having read all four books, each reader then voted for their favourite. The votes were compiled along with the hundreds of other readers across Warwickshire who also took part. This year’s awards ceremony was virtual and the classrooms in Upper Key Stage 2 were buzzing with the excitement.
Our school’s top two books were ‘The Soup Movement’ by Ben Davis and ‘Voyage of the Sparrowhawk’ by Natasha Farrant so we were delighted to find that Ben Davis was the overall winner!
We look forward to next year’s awards and I am sure we will have even more readers join us for this fabulous event.
