On Tuesday our Eco Warrior team led an informative assembly on recycling. In a recent meeting, Mrs Matthews made them aware that our general waste has been extremely high recently and, in contrast, our recycling has slowed down.
Wanting to make a change, they have made signs for recycling bins to remind everyone to recycle and then they shared with the children all the different things that can be recycled in school. We have been encouraged to:
* Put fruit waste into compost bins
* Recycle cans, plastic bottles, glue sticks and paper as often as we can
* Close doors if the heating is on
* Utilise all paper and don't cut out from the middle.
The Eco team have also changed our Cool Milk delivery from individual cartons (very wasteful) to large bottles and reusable cups. Not only has this reduced our waste but the younger children seem to enjoy a cup far more than the cartons - win win!
