ROAR Competition
As a school, we took part in the ROAR Competition. The aim was to design and promote a brand new, world changing idea. The children worked in teams to design their products, create a prototype, produce a jingle and perform a presentation. Four finalists in Key Stage 2 went on to the school final with Magda and Sophie in Year 4 winning the school stage of the competition. Their winning world-changing idea was a "dissolver spray" that dissolves any type and any size of rubbish. Brilliant!
A big well done to Magda and Sophie, and to everyone involved, for all the world-changing ideas!
This week in Forest School, Year 4 built their own noughts and crosses games out of natural resources.
Life-Changing Donations
Thank you so much to all our children, parents, carers and staff for their generous Harvest donations for the Stratford Foodbank. As a school, we have donated a whopping 132 kgs of food! That's an increase of 35kgs on our donation last year - amazing!!!
The Stratford Foodbank said, "We are very touched that your little ones should think of those in crisis at this time...Without this [donation], we would not be able to improve our service to the growing number of people who need our help in times of crisis...Thank you again for your thoughtfulness at this time."

A Warm Welcome to Mrs Carter!
We are absolutely delighted to announce that our newest Alveston recruit has now joined our team. An experienced Learning Support Assistant (LSA), Mrs Carter has joined our Reception team to support your children and Mrs Rogers.
Miss Nimra was a wonderful addition to our team last term but has been working on a supply basis while we recruited and waited for Mrs Carter to join us.
I am sure you will join us in giving Mrs Carter a warm Alveston welcome!
Christmas Shoebox Appeal
DON'T FORGET...the deadline for completed shoeboxes to be returned to school has been extended to Monday, 20th November.
Thank you to those families that have already donated to this year's appeal. We now have 40 shoeboxes but we'd dearly love to increase this number with your help! Last year, you absolutely blew us away with your contributions and we proudly donated in excess of 100 shoeboxes to those in Eastern Europe less fortunate than ourselves. However, we do understand that budgets are strained for all, so please do not worry if it is difficult this year.
If you are able to donate, we are happy to accept boxes at drop-off or pick-up between now and the end of Monday and will be gathering them in the foyer.

School Christmas Card Project
The Friends of Alveston have informed us of yet another reason to celebrate this week! Our children's fabulous Christmas card designs have not only brought a huge smile to all our faces but they have also earned the school an amazing £263.63 in the process!!! We have been able to earn these additional funds thanks to the Friends being super-organised - Alveston's early artwork submissions to the School Christmas Card Project, coupled with families buying an unprecedented number of cards and other festive treats, have earned us a higher rate of commission. These funds can now be put towards our exciting new playground redevelopment project. More information on this is coming soon......!

here or under the "Our Community" section of our website. This November take time to celebrate what makes you unique by taking part in Odd Socks Day during Anti-Bullying Week. The Anti-Bullying Alliance have set the theme 'Make A Noise About Bullying' and will encourage young people to consider what bullying means, how banter can turn into something more hurtful, and what we can do to stop bullying. Odd Socks Day is on Monday 13th November, where adults and children wear odd socks to encourage people to express themselves and celebrate their individuality. Also, find out about the festival of Diwali, the five long day celebration that represents new beginnings and the victory of light over darkness, good over evil. The newsletter contains links to fun and interesting information and resources.

This charity also offers three different services to parents and carers who are concerned about their child’s mental health, up to the age of 25. General Reminders
Parking at Drop-Off and Pick-Up
We are so lucky at Alveston that the Football Club allow all our parents who drive to school to use their car park for drop-off and pick-up. This makes it safer for all our children. Please continue to use the Football Club car park. Please do not park on Knights Lane, Oak Road or any double-yellow lines for pick-up or drop-offs. Please also ensure that you do not stop or park within the zig-zag "Keep Clear" markings. This area is marked to keep the flow of traffic moving and to ensure the safety of all pedestrians.
Music lessons in school

Warwickshire Music have opened their waiting lists for: Piano, Violin, Oboe, Flute, Clarinet, Tenoroon/bassoon, Cello, Viola and Guitar (age restrictions apply to some instruments. Coronavirus within school
If your child tests positive for coronavirus, or has one or more of: temperature, continuous cough, loss of sense of smell or taste, please keep them off school for a minimum of three days or until they are better after three days. Please report all absences to the school office as below.
Sickness and Absence
Please let the school office know each day your child is absent from school by calling 01789 293412 and leaving a message. You may also email parents3002@welearn365.com. You do not need to contact us daily if your child is sick. Absences for sickness will be recorded 48 hours from the end of the day your child was last sick (i.e. if sick on Sunday, come back on Wednesday; if Tuesday come back on Friday) nor for COVID absences.
Medicines in School
We cannot accept medicines in school without a prescription label and a medical form completed by a parent or carer. Please ask the school office for more information and/or a form: parents3002@welearn365.com.

Naming Items in school
