News

30th June 2023

The summer term is always a special term. I have spoken before about the joy the improved weather brings to the atmosphere in school, but there is also so much happening both in and out of school with trips, visitors and themed weeks. This week is no exception, as you will find when you read on.
Aside from all the events and the exciting staff announcement below, there is another reason this is a favourite time for me personally - the reports! A huge task for us all to write and produce, it is wonderful to reflect on each child's journey over the academic year, go back further for some and marvel at their transformation since Reception, and to read about everyone's progress. It is not just the academic progress we value, it is also the personal growth in character, effort and behaviour that we applaud. Rejoicing in individual successes, wherever we may find them, makes my heart sing. Every child has made progress from their own starting points and I am proud of every single one of them. I know I will do this at the end of the year too, but I would like to take this opportunity to thank our community for each individual effort over the year to achieve these super outcomes. To our teaching teams and support staff, our parents and our children - this is a team effort, thank you for continuing to shine so brightly!

Make some noise!

Year 4 were very lucky this week to have Miss Dicker teach them all about her job at the Environmental Agency. They tested the volume and pitch of different sounds by using a noise meter, conducted their own experiments of soundwaves and pitch by using rulers and even listened to music created by a ruler! Miss Dicker tested the sound frequencies they could hear and compared it to how high or low Mrs Onslow and Miss Lennon could hear. Year 4 finished by testing how different materials make different sounds and how objects blocking the sound, such as a door or closed window, affect the volume. Thank you Miss Dicker for helping Year 4 to learn all about soundwaves, frequencies and pitch!

As you can see below, Year 4 spent some quieter moments at Forest School this week, roasting their own marshmallows.
This week, Year 6 were visited by 'Warwickshire Safe and Active Schools' for a Road Safety presentation about Impulse Control. Please click here for more information about this highly informative and timely session for our Year 6 pupils.
