News

7th October 2022

This week in our Collective Worship time we have focused on our value of Community. We have shared the story of the Loaves and Fishes and discussed what we can do as individuals to improve our school and wider communities. Sometimes it is the smallest thing, such as a friendly greeting, that can make the biggest difference.

In September, we told you we would focus our support on two charities this year, one local and one international, and both very close to all our hearts. Whilst we celebrate our Harvest Festival we also collect donations for the Stratford Food Bank. Below you will find a link to their most wanted list.

It is also the time of year when we start our collection of gifts for the Shoe Box appeal. The children will learn all about this appeal in one of our Collective Worships and you can find more information below.

This winter will undoubtedly be difficult for so many families in our community with the cost of living concerns and rising energy prices. We understand that many who may have given before may find it difficult this year. Please know whatever you can spare for either the Harvest Food Bank collection or the Shoe Box Appeal will be greatly appreciated by so many in our local and global community.

Wishing you all a peaceful weekend,

Year 5 on the Avon

Last week, Year 5 went on their Bell boating trip to the River Avon as part of their Raging Rivers Topic.
As well as an opportunity to observe the features of the river at first-hand, the trip was also a great team-building experience and great fun was had by all.
As you can see from the photos, the damp weather didn't dampen our spirits!

Huge thanks go to Andy, our instructor, for a great day and to Mrs Sanderson and Mrs Burvill for accompanying us on the day.

This week we have added some information regarding some exciting events in our area and some useful resources for parents:

Shoebox campaign 2022 ~ with your kind help, we would love to support the Teams4U nationwide shoebox appeal which provides Christmas gifts to vulnerable children and families, who would otherwise be left with nothing this Christmas. Please be a part of this ongoing story that is continuing to impact and change lives, by donating a shoebox to this year's appeal. Click here for more information.

Foodbank donations ~ as part of our school celebrations for Harvest Festival we will be collecting, and are very grateful for, food donations which we give to our local Food Bank.  Please send any donations you would like to make to school - they will be displayed in the school hall. A list of the Food Bank’s most needed items can be found here.

Fitt4Kids ~ if you are working during the October half-term holidays, have children easily bored at home, or just need some time to yourself, FiTT4kids are able to help! Click here for more information.

General Reminders

Parking at Drop Off and Pick Up
We are so lucky at Alveston that the Football Club allow all our parents who drive to school to use their car park for drop off and pick up. This makes it safer for all our children. Please continue to use the Football Club car park. Please do not park on Knights Lane or Oak Road for pick up or drops offs. Please also ensure that you do not stop or park within the zig-zag "Keep Clear" markings. This area is marked to keep the flow of traffic resuming and to ensure the safety of all pedestrians.

The car park is safer for pedestrians as well as families loading and unloading into cars. Parents have reported an increase in cars parked on Oak Road and many cars have parked on double yellow lines. Please be considerate to the safety of all. Thank you.
