1st December 2023
Well! If I thought last week was beginning to feel a bit like Christmas, this week it’s definitely building! So lovely to see the children ‘spruce up’ their uniforms on Friday. Our ‘SHINE Time’ assembly was not only full of ‘Stars of the Week’ but it was also a sea of red, green and sparkle. Thank you to everyone who donated a bottle for our Christmas Fayre and for all your efforts with the sprucing.
This weekend I am also going to be digging out my ear plugs. With the nativity rehearsals in full swing, I can hear the children’s beautiful singing and I don’t want to spoil the surprise of the performances! If you have children in classes Reception to Year 4, I am sure you are being treated to little bursts of song too and there are definitely some crackers!
Mrs Newitt and I are looking forward to next week too…but ssssshhhh! It’s a surprise!
Whatever you are doing this weekend, I hope everyone manages a little rest and relaxation.

Governors’ Newsletter Report – November 2023
The governors met last week (23rd November) for their second meeting of the year at which they confirmed Alex Quinn as Chair and Martin Grubb as Vice Chair. As well as acting as a ‘critical friend’ to the Head and her senior leadership team, the governors are responsible for monitoring the financial viability of the school. This they did on Thursday and were reassured to learn that the planned budget would run the school effectively in 2023/24. Indeed, when asked whether she had the funds to provide the educational, emotional and spiritual development of the pupils Mrs Clewley confirmed “Yes, there were”.
Other matters discussed included governors’ visits to school, parents’ evening survey, the Head Teacher’s report; the Learning Improvement Plan (the plan that monitors the progress of learning); the Website review which had highlighted, amongst other things, the need to ‘tidy up’ aspects of the Parents information; and details about the past and future Christian related events of this term.
The updated ‘Attendance Policy’ was signed off with governors agreeing the changes would formally come into force at the beginning of January 2024.
Finally, the Chair presented a proposed long-term strategy, based on previous discussions, on how the school could continue on its journey to being a ‘centre of excellence for education’. Overall a wide ranging meeting.
