Newsletter 9.12.22

News

9th December 2022

In our last newsletter, I mentioned traditions and this week at Alveston has been full of them! The tradition of the school nativity at Alveston has evolved over recent years to six performances of three separate productions…and this week it was show time! Our Reception children performed a nativity called ‘Mary’s Knitting’, Year 1 and Year 2 took part in their nativity ‘A King is Born’ and Years 3 and 4 presented the pantomime ‘Panto Pandemonium’. The productions were just amazing and showcased the talent, confidence and brilliance of our children. The hard work that has gone into delivering these wonderful performances was evident throughout. Next week we will publish individual news features on each of the performances with more photos in our news section.

Thank you to everyone involved: parents and families for learning lines and helping with costumes; the admin team for organising tickets and supporting with queries; those who helped put up the stage, organise the chairs; the teaching teams for producing and directing the plays and to the children for learning lines, acting, singing and being utterly dazzling! Thank you all for delivering this wonderful experience and fond memories for our community.

The outcome of all this, that other known tradition – me getting emotional over the wonder of our children shining so, so brightly!

Wishing you all a peaceful and restful weekend,

Anne Clewley

Head Teacher

P.S.! Don't forget, if you are getting your Christmas tree this weekend, when you buy from Warwickshire Christmas Trees, school receive 10% of the sales. Year 4 Needles on Point!

Year 4 made sock puppets this week and practiced their sewing skills. This forms part of their DT process this term. Having made our sock puppets, we will be  evaluating what was effective, how we could have improved the final product and what we would do differently if we made another socket puppet.
Lifesaving Donations

Thank you so much to all our children, parents, carers and staff for their generous Harvest donations for the Stratford Foodbank. As a school, we have donated a whopping 97 kgs of food!

Annette O'Hara, School Liaison, said, "What an amazing achievement! As you know times are hard for so many people so we are especially grateful to your school families for making such kind donations to help others who may be struggling."

We are now the proud owners of a THANK YOU certificate as a result of such an amazing donation. Click here to see it in all its glory!

General Reminders

Parking at Drop Off and Pick Up
We are so lucky at Alveston that the Football Club allow all our parents who drive to school to use their car park for drop off and pick up. This makes it safer for all our children. Please continue to use the Football Club car park. Please do not park on Knights Lane or Oak Road for pick up or drops offs. Please also ensure that you do not stop or park within the zig-zag "Keep Clear" markings. This area is marked to keep the flow of traffic resuming and to ensure the safety of all pedestrians.

The car park is safer for pedestrians as well as families loading and unloading into cars. Parents have reported an increase in cars parked on Oak Road and many cars have parked on double yellow lines. Please be considerate to the safety of all. Thank you.
