Last Sunday, Stratford hosted the super fun (but uber competitive) annual Dragon Boat Races, in aid of the Shakespeare Hospice. As you have heard, one of our very own Alveston teams only went and won the thing!!!! The Row-Meos (what a brilliant name) are all flying high after their victory...and deservedly so! The team have described the event as such a wonderful day, especially lovely to share with all of the children. Based on the fact that the Row-Meos were absolute beginners, their achievement is all the more impressive! Comprised mainly of year two and reception parents, but with a little sprinkle of other year group parents, the Row-Meos beat out 25 other teams to make it to the final and eventually win the entire event. Victory was sealed by a mouse's whisker with just 0.02 seconds between the first and second place boats! Just two hundredths of a second! Amazing!!! The team also secured the fastest time of the whole day within the heats with a time of 1minute, 3 seconds. Amazing stuff! Could this be the beginnings of something special.......?
The team were valiantly supported by Alveston Primary's other racing boat and we have some lovely pictures above of the teams and their children together.
The amazing winners' trophy is now taking pride of place in our school reception area for all to see - we will take good care of it, Row-Meos!
