At the end of last year, Year 4 decided they wanted to tackle the 'slops bucket' in the school hall. With food poverty even locally it was awful that so much good food was being wasted every day. The children noticed that the slops bucket was mounting higher each day and were keen to reduce this. We were proud of their ideas - coming up with suggestions on how less food could be wasted - greater choice, choice of portion size, variety of toppings etc. The children wrote letters to our catering team at Educaterers and today we were able to hand deliver those letters to the Area Leader. It's hard to strike the balance on ensuring there is variety whilst knowing how much to cook but we were pleased that the children are so aware.
