We are absolutely delighted to announce that Year 6's Polly has won the Coventry & Warwickshire Children’s Peace Poem 2021 Competition. This year there were a bumper number of entries but Polly's poem came out on top!
The poem theme for the competition was 'Neighbourliness' . The pandemic brought neighbours together, neighbours whom we never normally meet but in 2020 took on a new importance.
Polly said: "I'm delighted to be a joint winner in this competition and shocked too because I never thought I could win something for my poetry which I never knew I was that good at. I started writing the poem and going with the flow to see what ideas I could come up with. There was a lot of editing and I made lots of changes before writing my final version. This was fun to take part in and I never thought I could win something like this and I'm very pleased that I did."
You can read Polly's entry below. I think we all agree, Polly is not only a great neighbour but a great poet too! Well done Polly!
