It was wonderful to have our families join us in school this morning for our Reading Together Time. Many classes were packed full of parents sharing the joy of books and reading with the children. Thank you for joining us - we really appreciate your time and we know how much the children love to have you in their classes.
Reception class enjoyed the story of The Gingerbread Man with families before breaking off to read and share traditional tales together with their parents.
Year 1 loved reading about Katie Morag's island life before sharing stories with their families.
Year 2 shared a reading comprehension with their parents and then read out loud from a library book of their choice.
Mr Hollis spent some time reading aloud from Year 3's class reader, The Boy Who Grew Dragons, and then the children broke off into smaller groups to read with and be read to by their parents.
In Year 4, they are enjoying and studying a childhood classic at the moment, The Famous Five. As part of Reading Together Time this week, we asked our families to bring in their favourite childhood book or a book they are loving reading now with their child. The adults shared the books with the children to inspire their love of reading. What a privilege to hear our families become storytellers for the morning! Thank you to everyone who attended and read to the children.
Year 5 spent their time quizzing. The children cleverly generated quizzes about their class readers and put each other to the test!
Year 6 had a huge turnout of parents for their last Reading Together Time. Parents really enjoyed reading the children's own work as well as published books.
