6th December 2024

Well, what a wonderful way to end the week! There might have been a weather front closing in, but we were cooking up our own storm at the Christmas Fayre. The Friends of Alveston did an amazing job of putting together a fabulous evening of fun and frivolity. The team worked hard all day to pull the plan together and, with the support of Year 6 children and our staff, the evening went like a dream.  With a plethora of stalls, hot food and seasonal drinks, there was something for everyone. Our Christmas Carol Singers led by Mrs Newitt, added to the atmosphere and we were absolutely delighted to welcome Father Christmas himself.
It was a wonderful time for our community to come together and to catch up. So a huge, heartfelt thank you to everyone involved - the Friends, children, staff and families. Whether you helped to get the show on the road, created amazing items to sell, donated cakes, bottles and sweets or turned up on the day - thank you! It is not just the about the raising of funds, it is also about coming together and enjoying each other's company. Thank you Alveston - storm or not, you were shining brightly!
Whatever you are doing this weekend, stay safe!

Merci beaucoup!
Space Centre

Year 5 have had a brilliant school trip to the National Space Centre, linking to their learning in Science this term. The children had a wonderful day exploring the centre, interacting with the activities and experiencing the amazing planetarium. Thank you to our parent helpers. What a fantastic trip to enhance our learning!

This week Year 3 have continued their work learning about how people lived in the Stone Age. They have used our imaginations to go on an archaeological dig at Skara Brae and really got our brains working making clever guesses based on the artefacts they have found!
Sporting Stars!

James, in Year 5, recently progressed to a blue belt in karate! Quite rightly, James is super proud of himself. He attends his karate lesson every week with no complaints, come rain or shine, and has worked very hard to achieve this success.  James has shown a real focus and determination and his family are incredibly proud of him, as are we. Well done, James!

Alex in Reception has also been a sporting star and achieved his yellow belt in Taekwondo! Alex is a member of Stratford Combat Centre and trains twice a week at the centre and twice a week with his Daddy. Such commitment! We are all very proud of your dedication and success, Alex. Well done!

Brilliant Bunting!

Earlier this year our neighbour, the NFU, launched a competition as part of the celebrations for their head office’s 40th anniversary. They asked local primary school children to design school bunting that encapsulated the NFU's work and the customers they support.
We were delighted to have a parent alumni, Mrs Pritchard, join us for Friday's SHINE Time to announce the winners. Drum roll please!....

We are delighted to announce that Sadie, Year 6, and Zeina, Year 3 are our amazing bunting competition winners! Well done for creating such beautiful, thoughtful designs.

General Reminders

Parking at Drop-Off and Pick-Up
We are so lucky at Alveston that the Football Club allow all our parents who drive to school to use their car park for drop-off and pick-up. This makes it safer for all our children. Please continue to use the Football Club car park. Please do not park on Knights Lane, Oak Road or any double-yellow lines for pick-up or drop-offs. Please also ensure that you do not stop or park within the zig-zag "Keep Clear" markings. This area is marked to keep the flow of traffic moving and to ensure the safety of all pedestrians.

Sickness and Absence
Please let the school office know each day your child is absent from school by calling 01789 293412, option 1, and leaving a message.  You may also email parents3002@welearn365.com. You do not need to contact us daily if your child is sick/vomits. Absences for sickness/vomiting will be recorded 48 hours from the end of the day your child was last sick (i.e. if sick on Sunday, come back on Wednesday; if Tuesday come back on Friday) nor for COVID absences.

Medicines in School
We cannot accept medicines in school without a prescription label and a medical form completed by a parent or carer.  Please ask the school office for more information and/or a form via:
