This week Reverend Linda shared in Collective Worship about The Big Knit. The Alveston and Tiddington community are coming together to knit or crochet 4500 green squares to make a huge art installation Christmas tree in church. She demonstrated how this would look using some volunteers.
Why not join in and knit squares for this Community Art Installation?!
What to Knit:
- Use double knit (DK), green yarn (any shade) and 6mm needles
- Cast on 40 stitches
- Garter stitch all rows (plain knitting) until work measures 25.5cm
- Cast off
Or, to crochet:
- Make a 40 stitch chain, work in double or treble stitch until work measures 25.5cm
Instructions for more seasoned knitters:
- Knit or crochet Christmas tree decorations - all shapes and sizes
- Not too small, and no bigger than 25.5cm tall
Instructions for younger people:
- Knit smaller squares and make different coloured pom-poms as baubles
Drop-off points for your squares and knitted decorations:
