Since we introduced toast in January, we have been delighted with the uptake of over 100 children each day enjoying it as a mid morning healthy snack. However, with the joy came two noticeable downsides. With each slice being wrapped in kitchen towel, we were generating a lot more waste and sadly, a lot of this waste was whipping its way around the playground. Our Eco Committee have been busy litter picking when possible but they, and others in their classes whom they were representing, were keen to find a better solution. Last week the committee met and decided that we should try towels to keep the toast warm. These can be washed and reused and cause no waste or litter. Today our new 'Toast Towels' were introduced. Long may they last. Well done children - a great suggestion.
