STOP PRESS!

Further to acknowledging this weather being fabulous for our gardens, we need your help! See below for more details!
Well what happened to the weather this week?! I have never experienced thunder during a SATs paper before, but I have now! It seemed every day, at pick up time precisely,  we had a re-run of the Coronation Concert with a downpour of rain and one day, a little lightening too! However our natural surroundings are grateful for this wet weather and it is wonderful to see everything in our grounds, and gardens at home, sprouting new leaves and growing rapidly. It is a wonderful sign of hope, new beginnings and next chapters.
This week our Year 6 children have completed their SATs tests. There has been much in the press about the  papers, which I am sure will rumble on. At Alveston our children, as always, faced all the tests with a maturity to be proud of. Now they too can look forward to exciting new chapters. We are all full of such hope and ambition for them, we know the best is yet to come.
To all our families, whatever you are doing, I wish you a restful and peaceful weekend.

Congratulations to Othello Yellows!

Star of the Week will be back next week...
Give Me Shelter!

This week, Year 4 spent their time at Forest School shelter building! They considered the best options for different types of weather and worked together to construct the shelters. Take a look at their ingenious creations above!

Musical Maestros

Below, you can see Year 1 thoroughly enjoying their Music lesson with lots of different instruments!
Millie and Millie in Year 5 are passionate about online safety, so they put together a presentation for younger children. They spoke to Year 3 and 4 about how to create a safe password, the age ratings on games and gave general tips about how to stay safe online. Well done!
We Need Your Help for Stratford in Bloom!

Our Forest School Lead and keen gardener, Mrs Fielding, is taking the lead for our Stratford in Bloom 2023 entry. We will share more information soon, but Mrs Fielding is looking for support with some key items to start the work in earnest! Working with our children, she is keen to get started and deliver an entry we can continue to sustain for years to come. If you can help us with any of the following items, please contact school via admin3002@welearn365.com or talk to us on the gate or playground. Thank you in advance for all your help.
  • Wooden pallets
  • Compost
  • Long bamboo canes - 6 or 8 foot
  • Vegetable plants
  • Tomato plants
  • Summer bedding plants
  • Bee loving plants - lavender, nepeta, verbena
  • 2litre plastic bottles
Mrs Fielding will also be starting a new after school gardening club very soon - watch this space!
