24th May 2024

Ending our fabulous ARTs Week and term wearing our own clothes is exciting enough…but to end it with a circus is just super special! Listening to the children take part in circus workshops today has been a joy and I am looking forward to seeing them attend the circus and Summer Fair later this afternoon. The cherry on top today was the arrival of BBC Coventry and Warwickshire’s, Dan. Nominated by a parent as a ‘Star School’, Dan spent the day with us recording for their ‘Star School’ feature on Phil Upton’s breakfast show. Dan has interviewed the children, had a good look around the school and also interviewed our Staff Star, Mr Hollis. We were absolutely delighted to be nominated and thrilled that our community were given the opportunity to show Dan just why Alveston shines so brightly. What an amazing way to end the half term!
Do tune in to the BBC Coventry and Warwickshire’s Phil Upton breakfast show just before 8.30am from Monday 3rd June!
Whatever you are doing for the holidays I wish you a wonderful week. We look forward to welcoming the children back to school on Tuesday 4th June.

Nee-Nar!

Reception class had an exciting visit from our Police Community Support Officers, Faye and Emma. Reception class learnt all about their uniform and how they work in the community to keep us safe. We then had the opportunity to look at the police car - the children loved the different sounds the car horn made!

Free child car seat and vehicle advice events

Warwickshire Road Safety Partnership invites you to attend free child car seat and vehicle advice events being held throughout Warwickshire this half-term, 28th May – 1st June.

Delivered by Child Seat Safety, experts in the field of car seat safety and IOSH accredited in car seat training, these free-to-attend events are open to everyone.

From previous years, we know that around 80% of child car seats in Warwickshire do not fit the car, are incompatible with the child, or need adjustment such as re-routing of seatbelt or adjustment of head restraint.

With over 40 years of child seat knowledge Child Seat Safety will be available to check and adjust seats and answer any questions relating to car seat safety that you may have.

Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Service will also be in attendance supporting drivers to undertake essential vehicle checks.

Events will be held between 10am and 3pm on the following dates:

  • Tuesday 28th May: Elliott’s Field Retail Park, Rugby

  • Wednesday 29th May: Asda, Nuneaton

  • Thursday 30th May: Asda, Leamington Spa

  • Friday 31st May: The Maybird Retail Park, Stratford upon Avon

  • Saturday 1st June: Dobbies Garden Centre, Mancetter, Atherstone

If you have any questions about these planned events, please email: roadsafetyeducation@warwickshire.gov.uk

General Reminders

Parking at Drop-Off and Pick-Up
We are so lucky at Alveston that the Football Club allow all our parents who drive to school to use their car park for drop-off and pick-up. This makes it safer for all our children. Please continue to use the Football Club car park. Please do not park on Knights Lane, Oak Road or any double-yellow lines for pick-up or drop-offs. Please also ensure that you do not stop or park within the zig-zag "Keep Clear" markings. This area is marked to keep the flow of traffic moving and to ensure the safety of all pedestrians.

Sickness and Absence
Please let the school office know each day your child is absent from school by calling 01789 293412, option 1, and leaving a message.  You may also email parents3002@welearn365.com. You do not need to contact us daily if your child is sick/vomits. Absences for sickness/vomiting will be recorded 48 hours from the end of the day your child was last sick (i.e. if sick on Sunday, come back on Wednesday; if Tuesday come back on Friday) nor for COVID absences.

Medicines in School
We cannot accept medicines in school without a prescription label and a medical form completed by a parent or carer.  Please ask the school office for more information and/or a form via parents3002@welearn365.com.
