24th November 2023
On Friday 24th November, we were very excited to join Revd. Linda and her team to help to decorate the knitted tree at St. James' Church. We launched the project at Alveston during the Spring Term this year and we were delighted to have accumulated almost 70 squares and a box over-flowing with knitted decorations and pompoms.
We took six of our children who had contributed the bulk of our squares and decorations to help construct the tree.
Accompanied by some parents, we got busy sewing the squares onto bamboo canes to make the branches, helping to decorate the tree with knitted baubles, chains and Christmas characters and also making white icicle tinsel. I can confirm that every one of our squares and most of our decorations made it onto the tree before we left! There was still much to do to complete the tree, so we cannot wait to see it, when it is finished.
Thank you to everyone who knitted or crocheted a square or a decoration for the tree. We were so proud to take Alveston C of E Primary's contributions to church and see them all in situ.
Thank you to our parents who joined us too! We all agreed it was a lovely way to spend a Friday afternoon.
