News

2nd February 2024

This week in Collective Worship we have returned to our value of 'Honesty'. On Tuesday we discussed being honest to and with ourselves, exploring the theme of a moral compass. Just as we use a compass to find the right path to a location, our moral compass guides us to find the right path to live in accordance with our personal values. We discussed how we know if we are living in line with our values and how our early warning signs can help us. Not only do our early warning signs tell us when we are not feeling safe, they also 'appear' when we do something that is not in keeping with our moral compass. Our early warning signs can remind us we have stepped away from our path, that we are not being our true selves. Sharing examples of our individual early warning signs, we agreed we would all be curious when we feel them. If we feel safe in every other way, are they telling us we need to act to return to our true north? At times we all stray from our path,  but when we are honest with ourselves and are living in accordance to our values, we can find true inner peace.
Wishing you all a curious and peaceful weekend,
Anne Clewley

Team Spirit

This week the Year 6 Girls Football Team played against the Year 6 Boys Football Team. Both teams have impressed us with how they have worked together and played against each other. Well done to everyone involved including those who came along to support their classmates!
Thank you again to the wonderful Tom Sidwell for all his support coaching our football teams. Your time, Tom, is greatly appreciated.
First Aid for Life

Last week, as part of their PSHE curriculum, Year 6 participated in a first aid course with Warwickshire Fire and Rescue Training Services. The instructor provided a hands-on and engaging experience for the children. They covered topics such as CPR, the Recovery Position and First Aid for Common Injuries. Well done to all the children for their participation. They have come away with important life skills and knowing what to do in the event of an emergency. Well done Year 6!

Playtime!

The 'Playground Playdates' have been a lot of fun for all involved. The children have really enjoyed showing their parents, siblings and the school staff all their favourite areas and activities. We have loved seeing our parents join in too – the exercise equipment was definitely put through its paces!

We are thoroughly enjoying seeing the fun and smiles and hearing all the laughter that our new playground equipment has brought.

Please do not worry if you were unable to join us, there will be other opportunities for the children to show you around. In addition to planning an event to launch our reflective space and our 'positive people and pet pebbles', we are also planning a wonderful formal opening of the playground, with a very important VIP! Once we have a date we will let you know!

Some lovely images from the playdates can be viewed here.

General Reminders

Parking at Drop-Off and Pick-Up
We are so lucky at Alveston that the Football Club allow all our parents who drive to school to use their car park for drop-off and pick-up. This makes it safer for all our children. Please continue to use the Football Club car park. Please do not park on Knights Lane, Oak Road or any double-yellow lines for pick-up or drop-offs. Please also ensure that you do not stop or park within the zig-zag "Keep Clear" markings. This area is marked to keep the flow of traffic moving and to ensure the safety of all pedestrians.

Coronavirus within School
If your child tests positive for coronavirus, please keep them at home for three days or until they are better after three days. Please report all absences to the school office as below.

Sickness and Absence
Please let the school office know each day your child is absent from school by calling 01789 293412, option 1, and leaving a message.  You may also email parents3002@welearn365.com. You do not need to contact us daily if your child is sick/vomits. Absences for sickness/vomiting will be recorded 48 hours from the end of the day your child was last sick (i.e. if sick on Sunday, come back on Wednesday; if Tuesday come back on Friday) nor for COVID absences.

Medicines in School
We cannot accept medicines in school without a prescription label and a medical form completed by a parent or carer.  Please ask the school office for more information and/or a form via parents3002@welearn365.com.
