News

22nd December 2023

Goodness - what a long term that was! We may have limped to the end, battered and bruised by all the bugs doing the rounds – but we made it. Not only that, the week was truly filled with joy!

Below you will find all the links to the events this week – we certainly filled the week with all things Christmas. Following a visit from Father Christmas himself, we ended our morning on our last day of the term entertaining our families with a whole school performance of ‘The 12 Days of Christmas’ and didn’t they do well?! Thank you to those who joined in with our singing, it was lovely to hear the voices of our community coming together.

On behalf of the Alveston Team, I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New Year. We look forward to seeing everyone back in school on Wednesday 10th January.

We have done so much this week! You will find all the Christmas reports within the 'News' section of our website, or you may follow these links:

Dangerous Parking

We have received a call this week from a local resident, expressing their concerns about the dangerous parking that continues on Knights Lane. Please continue to use the Football Club car park for drop-off and pick-up. Please do not park on Knights Lane, Oak Road or any double-yellow lines. Please also ensure that you do not stop or park within the zig-zag "Keep Clear" markings. This area is marked to keep the flow of traffic moving and to ensure the safety of all pedestrians.
Road Closures - Tiddington Road

You will no doubt have seen the various signs en route to school forewarning of the closure of the Tiddington Road. This will be just in time for the start of the Spring term on Wednesday 10th January 2024 (groan)!

Closure of the road is scheduled from 8th to 31st January from 09:30-15:30 on week days only. Please do try and plan ahead to give yourselves plenty of time to get to school for an 8:55am start.
En garde!

Sword Kids - the leading school Fencing programme in the Midlands - are offering our Year 3 - Year 6 children the opportunity to learn the art of sword fighting, right here at Alveston Primary School!

The club runs from 15th January - 18th March with no session during half term. All kit is supplied and the club runs for 45 mins at a cost of £8.50 per session (£76.50 for 9 sessions). Spaces are limited so please don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity!

If your child is in Year 3-Year 6 and would like to try their hand at fencing, please follow this link to sign-up.

"Sword Kids is built on the core values of courage, resilience and well-being, nurturing both physical and mental strength in their students. And, with a team of experienced coaches, they provide a safe and supportive environment for children to learn the art of sword fighting. Through engaging classes and competitions, Sword Kids strive to empower young fencers and instil lifelong skills that extend beyond the sport."
