17th February 2023
Yesterday, during our final Collective Worship of the half term, we had a different celebration. In addition to celebrating our cross-country runners, birthdays, team point winners and all our previous Half Term Cup winners, we celebrated those children who always do the right thing, but sometimes might think no-one has noticed.
The hall was full of waving hands, children eager to share who they wanted to present the award ‘you think you are under the radar, but we see the good work you do!’
Twenty-one children, one by one, told the whole school who they felt always made the right choices, in and out of the classroom. As a result, nineteen children were nominated by their peers.
Children talked about others always listening in class, working hard on specific pieces of work, being kind and a good friend. One of our youngest children celebrated an older child, who was the first to help him when he fell over. A Year 2 child was nominated three times by three different classmates for being kind, a good friend and working hard - what a super star!
What was evident throughout, was example after example of children demonstrating our school ethos and values day in, day out. Letting their light shine, often quietly, but their good work noticed by their friends. The children nominated said they were proud, some were surprised, but all were very deserving of these words of praise.
There were so many children wishing to celebrate others, we ran out of time! We discussed those who had not managed to present their award, seeking out their nominee and letting them know. I hope everyone managed to do this.
It was a wonderful, heart-warming celebration, a joyous way to start the day and end the half term. I asked the children if they would like to do it again and I am delighted the answer was a resounding ‘yes!’
I would like to wish all our families a wonderful half term, and hope it is full of love and rest. I look forward to welcoming you back on Monday 27th February and we can do it all again!

Congratulations to everyone! You should be very proud.
We’ve also had reports of people parking in the bus stop. Please do not park on Knights Lane or Oak Road for pick-up or drops-offs. Please also ensure that you do not stop or park within the zig-zag "Keep Clear" markings. This area is marked to keep the flow of traffic resuming and to ensure the safety of all pedestrians.
We are so lucky to have use of the Football Club car park so please do continue to park here. It is so much safer for pedestrians and for loading and unloading into cars.
Thank you for helping to keep the children, residents and road users safe!
