Online Safety Week!
Reception read the story Penguin Pig. We discussed how a Penguin Pig was a trick as it doesn’t exist. We then learnt that we should always ask for adult help when using the internet and to ask for support if we are worried. We then accessed a child friendly internet site with adult support and played a game with our learning partner.
Year 1 listened to the story of Chicken Clicking for Online Safety Week to understand how to be safe online. This story prompted our discussion on the things that Chicken Clicking did that weren't safe. We also spoke about people pretending to be someone else.
In Year 2 we read the story, 'The internet is like a puddle'. We then learnt about our digital footprint and how to stay safe when creating work. Finally, we took a quiz on Purple Mash about staying safe online.
Year 3 found out about ways in which we use the internet and what makes it such a great invention before we focused on ways we can stay safe. We also looked at how we can make the internet a better place.
Year 4 focused on game restrictions this Online Safety Week. We spoke about how to safe stay when gaming, why it is important and whether you can have too much screen time. Children guessed the age restrictions of well-known apps and accounts and then went onto test their knowledge of staying safe online by playing Band Runner.
Year 5 learnt about PEGI ratings and social media restrictions. The looked into why these restrictions are in place and things that they can do to stay safe.
Year 6 thought carefully about why maintaining their image online safely is important. They discussed who or what could happen to it.
