Year 1 have been learning about composting and how we can generate our own soil if we compost our fruit and vegetable peelings. We have compost bins in our Reception and Key Stage 1 outdoor areas and we have another compost bin by our gardening club resources. All children have been encouraged to place their breaktime fruit, toast and vegetable waste in our small green buckets ready to go in the compost bin each week. We have even placed a compost bin in the staffroom for old tea bags. Hopefully over the next few years our waste will rot down and make some super soil for our gardens. Well done Year 1 for sharing your learning and ideas with the whole school.
