10th November 2023
On Friday 10th November we took our Year 2 and Year 6 children to the Alveston Memorial for our own Remembrance Service. An annual service, it was lead by Revd. Linda. Our Year 6 children played an active part in the service, reading a poem and responding. On behalf of Alveston, our Year 2 children placed the poppy wreath they had made in class on the memorial.
The children explored the memorial itself, discussing the names, regiments and ranks of the fallen service men, Year 6 supporting our younger children in discussion. Our children showed yet again what wonderful citizens they are, demonstrating very respectful behaviour throughout.
Thank you to the parents who joined us and to Revd. Linda for leading for the service.
The Year 6 children also supported the sale of poppies and poppy merchandise, with all donations going to the Royal British Legion. Thank you to everyone who made a purchase or a donation to this very worthy charity.
