Welcome back everybody!

We have had the best week at Alveston. The children have returned ready and raring to go and have knocked all our socks off settling back beautifully into the routines of school. We have focused on our school ethos, vision and values, as well as our school routines and rules. Reminding ourselves about the path we need to take to navigate our way through our learning journeys, we have also been introduced to a fabulous orienteering scheme to help us navigate our school grounds and Forest School. All week the children have been intrigued by the signs which appeared over the holiday and so excited to explore them. Watching and listening to our oldest children complete some of the activities using the scheme has made me smile all afternoon.

Our youngest children have also had their first proper session at Alveston. On Friday they blew us away with how well they came into school and settled so quickly. We look forward to our Reception children joining us full time on Monday.

I can truthfully say this week has been an absolute joy and a fabulous start to the year. Thank you to everyone in our community who has made it so.

Wishing you all a peaceful weekend,

Anne Clewley

Stars of the Week

Our wonderful children have already been shining brightly this week...and our Shine Time will be back on Friday 13th September to celebrate this! House points will be collected, verified and counted, happy birthday will no doubt be sung with gusto and good news will be shared all round!
A Sneak Peak from this Week....

The children have dived into Ethos Week this week! This is a time for the children to learn about and explore our school values, our expectations of them while at Alveston (and theirs of us!) and the Christian beliefs that our school embraces.

Year 5 have been rounding off Ethos week by creating posters and leaflets which incorporate all that they have been recapping.

Year 4 explored and shared the different ways in which their bodies react when in uncomfortable or frightening situations, as part of their work on Protective Behaviours.

This is just a sneak peek so please do come back next week to read more about what the whole school got up to during their first week back.

Books, Glorious Books!

Stratford-upon-Avon Arts Society (known as STRADFAS) have kindly donated a selection of books that the children will be studying as part of our curriculum. We were so grateful to receive these and the sight of new books has caused quite a stir!
Toast-tastic!

Just a reminder that hot buttered toast is available once again each break time for all children in school. Many children do vote our toast superior to others and we know some will eat the brown bread here, even if they refuse to elsewhere! Harrison in Y6 tells us each day it is ‘toast-tastic’! If you would like your child to have this as their healthy mid-morning snack, please pop onto ParentPay to order your child’s toast. At £1.50 each week, your child will have a piece of toast each day. Remember to do this during the holidays and you can pay for a whole half term to save yourself a weekly job!

2024/25 Lunch Menus

We have received an updated lunch menu which will be in place until early April 2025. Please do take a look at these with your children and help get them familiar with what is on offer.

Lunch menus can be found on our website Home Page under Parents/Lunch Menus. Any changes to menus will be reflected there and an email will be sent home informing families of the update.
Special Lunch Menu for National Roald Dahl Day

While we're on the subject of food, on Friday 13th September, the children will have the opportunity to choose from a crumpscoddle, fizzwiggler of a Roald Dahl-inspired menu! Please do take a look here.

General Reminders

Parking at Drop-Off and Pick-Up
We are so lucky at Alveston that the Football Club allow all our parents who drive to school to use their car park for drop-off and pick-up. This makes it safer for all our children. Please continue to use the Football Club car park. Please do not park on Knights Lane, Oak Road or any double-yellow lines for pick-up or drop-offs. Please also ensure that you do not stop or park within the zig-zag "Keep Clear" markings. This area is marked to keep the flow of traffic moving and to ensure the safety of all pedestrians.

Sickness and Absence
Please let the school office know each day your child is absent from school by calling 01789 293412, option 1, and leaving a message.  You may also email parents3002@welearn365.com. You do not need to contact us daily if your child is sick/vomits. Absences for sickness/vomiting will be recorded 48 hours from the end of the day your child was last sick (i.e. if sick on Sunday, come back on Wednesday; if Tuesday come back on Friday) nor for COVID absences.

Medicines in School
We cannot accept medicines in school without a prescription label and a medical form completed by a parent or carer.  Please ask the school office for more information and/or a form via parents3002@welearn365.com.
