11th November 2022
We have had another wonderful week this week, made extra special by seeing so many parents in school. The first Parents’ Evenings of the year gave the teachers and parents the opportunity to share how children have settled into their learning in their new class, the progress they are making and their targets for the year ahead. There is always such a lovely buzz about school on Parents’ Evenings and this week was no exception. Thank you to everyone who completed the questionnaire for Governors. We really do appreciate you taking the time to share your thoughts on how we are doing. The Governors will share the feedback from the questionnaires next week.
On Friday in addition to seeing several parents for Celebration Assembly, Year 2 and Year 6 children were joined by lots of parents for our service at the Alveston War Memorial. The service, led by Revd. Linda, incorporated a Year 6 performance of the poem "In Flanders Fields" by Canadian Lieutenant-Colonel John McCrae, written during the First World War. The children also laid a wreath created by Year 2 and Mrs Rogers read a prayer written by Year 2 children. Well done Year 2 and Year 6, I was so proud of you, your exemplary behaviour and your contribution to the service. Thank you to Revd. Linda, Governor Martin Grubb and all the parents, who walked with us and joined us at the service, it was an absolute pleasure to share this time with you.
Wishing you all a peaceful weekend,
Anne Clewley

Reception ~ Stanley
Year 1 ~ Nancy
Year 2 ~ Clemency
Year 3 ~ Thomas
Year 4 ~ Cordelia
Year 5 ~ Bella
Year 6 ~ Jasmine
Congratulations to all of our Stars!
A special mention must also go to Isabella in Year 6 who acted as a lead-out runner (hare) for the younger children and was a huge help to the adults on the day. Isabella came first in her race at the end of October, and Oscar Perham came fourth in his. We are hoping the other year 5s and 6s, who were unable to compete then, will have their chance in a rescheduled event in the New Year. We will update you as we know more.
We therefore need nominations for these posts to be emailed by to tim@friendsofalveston.onmicrosoft.com and parents3002@welearn365.com by Wednesday 16th November at the very latest.
You can find more information about the AGM and the committee roles here.

Hopefully you will have received your Bag2School leaflets in your child’s book bag.
Please note duvets, pillows and work or school uniform with logos are not accepted.
Most importantly - THE HEAVIER THE BETTER!!!
The latest edition of the Families Warwickshire magazine can be found under the "Our Community" section of our website (November 2022) - please do take a look.
Parking at Drop Off and Pick Up
We are so lucky at Alveston that the Football Club allow all our parents who drive to school to use their car park for drop off and pick up. This makes it safer for all our children. Please continue to use the Football Club car park. Please do not park on Knights Lane or Oak Road for pick up or drops offs. Please also ensure that you do not stop or park within the zig-zag "Keep Clear" markings. This area is marked to keep the flow of traffic resuming and to ensure the safety of all pedestrians.
The car park is safer for pedestrians as well as families loading and unloading into cars. Parents have reported an increase in cars parked on Oak Road and many cars have parked on double yellow lines. Please be considerate to the safety of all. Thank you.
