Year 6 enjoyed a fantastic London Parliament Trip before half-term.
We started out with lunch at St James’ Park in the beautiful sunshine, and our walking tour of London. We took in the sights of Buckingham Palace, the Mall, Horse Guard’s Parade, Downing Street and Big Ben. On our tour of the Palace of Westminster we were very lucky to see the House of Commons in session and a number of famous faces! The MPs were debating EU laws and waiting to cast their votes.
Visiting on a Wednesday, Parliament was busy after the Prime Minister's Questions. One group spotted Jeremy Hunt, Thérèse Coffey and Penny Mordaunt. Penny Mordaunt actually came up and spoke to the second group too! Later, during our own workshop debate about banning smoking, our MP Nadhim Zahawi made a special visit to see our children. He spent 20 minutes answering the children’s insightful questions. The children’s behaviour was exemplary and they SHINED brightly!
